2Tangos goes EDU @ Tel Aviv University
Today, we’d like to share some exciting news and also talk about some of the things we’ve been working on.
We are extremely proud to announce our first EDU partnership with Tel Aviv University.
Students at TAU now have their very own version of 2Tangos allowing them to trade their knowledge (sounds familiar?) with fellow students around campus.
We are quiet excited about this and think its a cool opportunity to put 2Tangos to good use for students.
In the first 2 weeks since our soft launch, we’ve received dozens of full submissions from students and were able to find an exact match for 1 in 8 students!
Interested in using 2Tangos for your organization? Get in touch with us at hello@2Tangos.com - We are game!
In other news. We are working on a little visual refresh, a facelift if you’d like. Also, we have been fiddling around with personalized recommendations giving our users some useful inspiration during submission; more news to follow shortly!
Get in touch if you have questions, remarks, feedback or anything else.
Today we are making matching more efficient, while ensuring that our accuracy remains fully in tact.
We call this improvement Canonical Topics; and they have been developed as a direct result from your great feedback!
You mentioned to us that we didn’t make it clear enough on how the actual learn/teach item were supposed to be formatted, or what language you should use.
Canonical Topics essentially function to align multiple variations of writing the same item, and even works in different languages.
Lets take an example for an item such as ‘Drums’.
If George wants to learn ‘Drumming’, ‘Play the Drums’, or ‘Drum’ he will now be matched for the correct topic of ‘drumming’.
Another situation that CT corrects could be spelling mistakes.
If Mandy makes an obvious misepllings or tpyo [get it?] and wants to learn ‘muntenbiking’ we will now also match her offering to learn ‘mountain biking’.
Pretty nifty, ey?
These changes will make matching quicker and hopefully more fun for us all.
Please do continue to share your thoughts with us, we are reading every email.
Welcome to users from Everywhere!
Hey Guys, just a quick note today to say hello and also mention that users from even more and pretty cool cities have signed up.
We are now looking for matches in Sydney, Cairo, Moscow, Cape town and Bogota. If you’re there right now, share the global goodness!
Oh, yes - you are right; It typically does take us a little longer to find an exact match in a new city, so hang in there, we are collecting new and exciting submissions each day and your match might just be one of them.
Summary of a good day
Hey there, from the 2Tangos team.
We wanted to share some insights from today, as we have been featured on the cover of one of Austria leading newspapers, online as well as print - pic below.
Thanks @derStandard for the support!
To celebrate our hometown of Vienna, and completely unrelated also International Mother Language Day (#IMLD), here are some stats for yesterday, February 21st, 2012
City: Vienna, Austria
Valid Submissions: 488
Matches: 35 (that’s 70 people)
Top Matched Items
We are thrilled for every single match we have generated, helping to bring people together and strengthening the ties inside our own extended communities.
Remember, if you are one of the lucky matches - tell your story and submit it as a video comment to our YouTube channel and we’ll send you some 2Tangos gear.
Oh yeah, one more thing. If you haven’t received your match yet - try sharing 2Tangos with your buddies, facecrunchers or tweetgooglers alike.
Today we released a few bug fixes, based on your feedback.
Mobile optimized site
We have just released our optimized version of 2Tangos.com. If you navigate to the site from a high-end mobile device using either iOS or Android, the site will now load optimized to your screen resolution
Based on your feedback, we have noticed that there was a little confusion in regard to the city input field. Some of the city entries had duplicated versions in the drop-down menu that would display a city in multiple spellings (i.e: Tel Aviv vs Tel Aviv- Jaffo).
This should now be fixed.
For your convenience, we have also added a link to our blog on the page footer so you can stay updated more easily.
Thanks for all your great feedback
